If You're On the Wrong Bus, Get Off!

Rabah and his wife Jeanette are the owners of Aladdin's Restaurant in Anchorage.  After 20 years of living with type 2 diabetes, Rabah and his whole family decided to take-on the 3 week vegan challenge described in Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes book.  Rabah noticed a dramatic change in his energy level almost immediately and the whole family collectively has lost 135 pounds in just 4 1/2 months!  He knows that he is on the right bus and has no intention of getting off.

"I feel so good about myself now, and also feel a greater reverence for my food.  And I feel sad for others who are suffering with health problems who haven’t yet learned what they could do to help themselves."

                                    The Closet Vegan

A friend had called to discuss her Memorial Day Weekend outing and shared with me that she had run into some “Tofu Eating, Tree Huggers!” and how her exchange was not so delightful. I laughed to myself because the night before I had prepared a wonderful Vegan Lasagna laced with tofu and I thought, “If she only knew.”

                                    How I Became Vegan

I have been a vegan for two years now, and it is one of the two most important decisions I have made in my life. The other was to ask my wife, Sandy, to marry me

My journey started by listening to podcasts of two separate interviews on a late-night radio talk show—one with John Robbins and the other with Dr. Neal Barnard.
(Phil is now a certified Food for Life Cooking Instructor)

                                    My Journey of Empowerment

"I am in charge of my own wellness team because I realize I'm responsible for my own health."  "I love eating a plant-based diet.  Food tastes better to me now that my taste buds aren't dulled by high fat and processed foods."

I feel better since I’ve switched to a plant-based diet. My bones don’t hurt anymore. I have more energy and more endurance. I can think more clearly. I’ve lost 20 pounds, my cholesterol has dropped 30 points, my blood pressure has dropped, and I just feel good!

                                    Kick the Meat Habit

My name is Naomi Feaster and I am eleven years old. When my grandma asked if she could interview me for my “Veg Story,” I said yes. I stopped eating meat two years ago and I’m glad I did. None of my friends are vegetarians but most of them don’t give me a bad time about my choice. Well, except for one friend but I just ignore it.
