Excess weight and poor health have become the norm in our culture, and the usual methods to combat these problems ARE NOT WORKING! ! !
Weight loss diets usually end up causing long term weight GAIN!
And drugs and procedures only treat the symptoms, not the cause of health problems.
So what else can we do?
Do we have to accept that our human bodies are flawed, and resign ourselves to being fat and sick?
NO! ! ! There is a better way!
1. Stop Dieting!
2. Honor your body and it’s natural mechanisms for staying healthy and slim.

Hi Delisa,
I enjoyed your tips for traveling, but couldn’t find where to respond, so I’m doing it here.
In restaurants I look for what vegetables are used on the menu in all the dishes, even the ones with meat. Then I ask, “Could you substitute —-(vegetable) instead of —- (something I don’t want) in this dish. Usually they will do it.
In Thailand, where I expected delicious vegetarian food because of the Buddhist tradition there, I found it very difficult to get vegetarian food in restaurants. Finally we discovered street food was our best bet. We could point at what we wanted and watch it being made.
Vegetarian meals in Europe are easier to find than they used to be. Still it can be a challenge if you don’t know the language. Use a phrase book to find the local names for the vegetables you want (and the foods you don’t want!).
We usually carry food with us,too. We were staying in a hotel in Guinea, West Africa, and the resident mouse liked my whole wheat bread much better than the bakery’s white!!! Are mice smarter than people????!!!!
I think most animals are smarter than people when it comes to choosing their food!
You’ve really had some practice putting your healthy eating skills to work in a myriad of places!
And your tip about looking at the whole menu and seeing what vegetables and grains are available and then just asking for what you want is really a good one. Thanks!
Hello Delisa,
I just recently heard about you through a friend and I have to say it is wonderful to see something like this in Alaska. I am just recently trying to adapt a vegan lifestyle and I have NO IDEA where to start. I dont know where to shop, how to cook, or what to buy. Makes it hard to enjoy it
I heard you have a cooking class and can help to get things started. I want to do this for my health and for the animals. Growing up on meat my whole life, I never stopped to think about what I was eating. After seeing how things are processed and “harvested”, I am disgusted by what has been in my body.
Any tips or when your next classes are would be appriciated. I really look forward to learning more about the lifestyle. Thanks so much for being here and making yourself availible to others
